It all began when two engineer brothers turned their unconditional love for these mountains into a successful business and lifestyle. The unique bond has broadened over time to the places, the people and the colleagues who joined the family and never left. Three generations on, we are still here, with the same roots and the same desire to help those who choose us experience the place we proudly call home. The history of the Residencehotels Group is intertwined with that of a whole area, of its tourism growth and its ski-oriented nature. The mountains, skiing and hospitality are part of our DNA.
Today, the third generation continues the path laid out by engineer Fabio Conci, while his great-grandchildren are beginning to emerge; though they never knew him, they are growing up amidst the mountains and the values of hospitality, listening with fascination to tales of his achievements. Tomorrow, they too will carry on the family’s vision with renewed enthusiasm.
All properties were refurbished and modernised. The first hotel management programme was created. Paperwork was replaced by digital solutions, emails began to be used instead of phone calls e the internet opened the doors to customers from all over the world, attracted by the Dolomites’ unparalleled natural beauty and wide range of activities..
The 1970 World Championships, combined with the growing interest in mountain tourism, helped establish the Residencehotels Group, which at the time included Residence Stueres and Residence Sassongher in Selva di Val Gardena, Residence Contrin in Canazei, Hotel Antares in Selva di Val Gardena, as well as Residence Lastei in San Martino di Castrozza and Residence Ambiez in Madonna di Campiglio. The group now includes Garni Aritz in Campitello di Fassa and the Lores and Boè Residences in Selva and Santa Cristina di Val Gardena, respectively.
While his building company was carrying on its business throughout the region, as a huge mountain, climbing and skiing enthusiast, Fabio began to also erect buildings in mountain resorts. After being elected as President of FISI, he even managed to bring the 1970 Alpine Ski World Championships to Val Gardena.
The family construction business, Alessandro e Fabio Conci Costruzioni, is founded. The 1950s were a time of reconstruction. Business was booming; the company grew and was awarded several major reconstruction contracts throughout the Trentino–South Tyrol region. The company comes to employ up to 500 workers, with a core staff of about 300. Fabio Conci, then president of the Provincial Committee of FISI, founds the 3/tre race in Madonna di Campiglio with four friends; now in its 67th edition, it is part of the men’s Alpine Skiing World Cup circuit.
